There are a few things that drive me crazy.  They're simple issues that we have the technology available to solve.  Yet for one reason or another, they just hang around unsolved.

I find it hard to believe that we have a phone system smart enough to tell us that we don't need to dial the number one, but it isn't capable of taking the one off and redialing for us. 

It should also be able to figure out area codes if we dial a local number, and it needs an area code.  The phone could say you have dialed a number which requires an area code press # to redial the number with your area code, press star to readail which this adjacent area code. 

Then there are smoke dectectors.  Why aren't rechargable batteries standard in smoke detectors.  Wouldn't it be easy to figure out a system which had a battery that we never had to change.  Of course then we wouldn't be buying batteries.

It is a good thing I live in a wonderful area which tends to wipe these things from my mind.
